The
whole focus of Silver Pines Sound & Light is to provide you with
entertainment for your party that you and your guests will remember for a
very long time. We never ever forget that it is your party, your event and
although we may provide suggestions as to what will be the best way to
achieve what you are aiming for, we will never dictate and
ultimately take all our instructions from you. This runs all the way from
the music you wish us to play, the look of the lighting and effects we
provide, the amount of interaction we have with your guests and our
appearance on the day or evening.
The process starts with a thorough discussion of the type event your are
looking to host – whether it be a wedding reception, a major birthday or
anniversary, a corporate or charity function, a seasonal celebration or
simply an excuse to have a good old fashioned “knees up”. During this
consultation we will ask you whether you wish to base the party around any
theme, the approximate running order of the evening, about the type of
music that you wish us to play, the number of guests you are expecting and
the location and size of the venue. Following this we will make
recommendations to you before finally confirming the booking, along with
our fee for the event. If agreed we will then issue you with a written
contract confirming our commitment to you and your obligations to us.

We are comfortable playing in virtually any venue – from private homes, to
small or large halls, marquees and hotel function suites – we have the
necessary equipment to cope with most eventualities, but in the unlikely
event we don’t, we are happy to use our contacts to source it on your behalf.
We prefer to visit the venue in advance of the day, so we can assess the
optimum position for us to set up, check that there is adequate power
supply, access, etc., to ensure our input runs as smoothly as possible.
However, we realise that for many reasons this isn’t always possible and
isn’t a requirement when making a booking. We do require access to the
venue from between one to two hours in advance of the start of the party
(dependent upon the amount of equipment we will be using) to ensure
we are set up and ready to go on time. We will also require up to a
further hour after the finish of the party to pack away into our
transport. This will be discussed with you during consultations before the
evening.

We realise that most parties are not full-on discos with dance music
playing from the start of the evening until the finish. We therefore like
to discuss the running order of your event so we can arrange for suitable
music throughout the evening. Commonly we are asked to provide background
music whilst your guests arrive, perhaps a little gentle dancing before a
buffet supper or sit down meal is served to the accompaniment of more
background tunes, and then music to set the party into full swing when the
meal has been cleared away until the finish.
We are happy to play for as long as requested in advance, but if we are
asked to continue on after the agreed times, we reserve the right to
charge a supplement, which will be agreed. If the party is in a managed
venue it should also be born in mind that we will still need adequate
“tear down” time so it should also be agreed with the management in
advance. |

Our DJs are not the sort that you will find in a night club – we don’t
pretend to be masters of the mix – nor the “Smashie and Nicee” style found
on some radio stations – we won’t be making wise cracks and announcing
every song. We play music that will maintain the mood you are looking for
and keep the party swinging. We are happy to interact with the guests as
much or as little as you, the host, requires. We are willing to become MCs for
the evening, making announcements for every phase of the function and can
supply radio microphones if you want to make any statements or speeches.
We will also encourage the guests to join in if you wish to ensure that
everyone enjoys themselves to the fullest.
We will always dress in accordance with the evening and your wishes –
either in full dinner suit, smart causal wear, party clothes or even fancy
dress. However, in the latter case, if anything out of the ordinary is
required, we would expect you to cover our costs in hiring suitable
costumes, all of which would be agreed in advance.

In advance of every event we prepare a playlist based on the style of
music you wish us to provide following consultations with you on any of
your likes or dislikes. We are happy to show the playlist to you in
advance if you require and will adjust it should you wish to add or remove
any specific songs.
This playlist gives us a framework on which to base our evening. However,
we rarely, if ever, stick to this rigidly and through the skill of the DJs
will “read the floor” adapting the music to the reaction of the guests.
Due to our computerised indexing of music, we are rapidly able to cue up
more of the same style of music if a particular genre is proving popular,
ensuring that people remain on the dance floor, or swap to something else
if it is proving unpopular.
A series of sample playlists from recent events can be found on the
Playlists page. Please also see the
Music page for further information on
what music we can provide and our policy on requests.
